Layouts & space planning

Living room zoning

Create conversation and circulation zones with rugs and low shelving rather than tall partitions to keep sea breezes flowing.

  • Floating sofas for airflow
  • Dual-purpose storage benches
  • Compact media walls with venting

Lighting strategy

Layered lighting: dimmable overhead, reading lamps, and accent uplights to mimic coastal dusk and bright mornings.

Common questions — practical answers

Choose solution-dyed acrylics or specialised outdoor textiles rated for UV and mildew. They clean easily and retain colour.

Use multi-functional furniture, reflective surfaces sparingly, and a restrained palette to maximise perceived space.

Low-VOC paints, stainless fittings, and water-resistant joinery components help longevity near the coast.
